| Once a candidate receives initial DCO certification, he/she must meet the following criteria in order to maintain certification: |
 |
- Submit to and pass a background investigation every two years
- Attend re-certification conferences, which typically occur every two years
- Continue to meet or exceed the established proficiency levels as outlined in the DCO Performance Support & Development Program
- Pass the Written Examination (every two years)
- Pass the Practical Skills Examination (every two years)
- Continue to meet the Selection Criteria for Doping Control Officers
