Sen McCain To Hold Press Conference Regarding FDA Supplement Regulations

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator John McCain (R-AZ) and others will hold a press conference tomorrow to discuss legislation to improve the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) current regulations ensuring all dietary supplements sold over-the-counter, in retail stores and online are safe and effective.

The legislation would require manufacturers of dietary supplements to list the ingredients contained in any supplement, and provide the FDA with the authority to identify and act upon safety concerns related to dietary supplements, including the ability to recall products from the marketplace.

The following groups support the legislation: the United States Anti-Doping Agency, Major League Baseball (MLB), the National Basketball Association (NBA), the National Football League (NFL), the National Hockey League (NHL), the United States Olympic Committee, the American College of Sports Medicine, National College Athletic Association (NCAA) and the PGA Tour.
