Borrego Lee, 25, tested positive for phentermine as the result of an in-competition urine sample collected at the Tour of South Florida on February 5, 2022. Phentermine is a Non-Specified substance in the class of Stimulants and is prohibited in-competition under the USADA Protocol for Olympic and Paralympic Movement Testing, the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee National Anti-Doping Policies, and the Union Cycliste Internationale Anti-Doping Rules, all of which have adopted the World Anti-Doping Code and the World Anti-Doping Agency Prohibited List.

Per the rule, Borrego Lee qualified for a one-year reduction to the otherwise applicable four-year period of ineligibility.

Borrego Lee’s three-year period of ineligibility began on March 25, 2022, the date his provisional suspension was imposed. In addition, Borrego Lee has been disqualified from all competitive results obtained on and subsequent to February 5, 2022, the date his positive sample was collected, including forfeiture of any medals, points and prizes.
