We receive this question fairly frequently, “Are energy drinks safe to use?” OK, so energy drinks, you know, those really highly caffeinated, often sugary drinks, that are designed to give you a rush of energy? They’re not your best choice for hydration. And actually, that rush of energy should be a warning sign that you’ve got too much of something. They’re often sold as dietary supplements, so their labels don’t have the same regulations. And so that can make it really difficult to know how much caffeine or various substance you are actually consuming. So, our advice is to always to a food-first approach. And rather than relying on the energy drinks, focus on consuming a well-balanced diet, hydrating with water, and getting plenty of rest.
