Hi everyone, here’s a common question that we receive from athletes, “Is creatine prohibited?” Creatine is not prohibited in sport, and it’s available as a dietary supplement in the United States. Because of the way dietary supplements are regulated, we recommend to athletes to take a food-first approach. And if you choose to use creatine, because it’s a dietary supplement, there are some inherent risks with using dietary supplements, like the risk of a positive test or an adverse health event. We encourage a food-first approach, but if you choose to use a dietary supplement, look for an NSF Certified for Sport creatine product to make sure that you can reduce your possible risks around testing positive or having an adverse health event.
