OK, this next question is pretty common and often carries a fair amount of confusion, “What are the rules around IVs?” OK, so intravenous injections or infusions of more than 100 mils in a 12 hour period are prohibited at all times, and that’s even if the substance being administered is not prohibited. So, you will need a TUE for any IV exceeding 100 mils. And then if the substance is also prohibited, you’ll need a TUE for that as well. However, if the IV is given in a hospital, it’s part of an emergency, or as part of a surgical or diagnostic treatment, then a TUE may not be required. You should always check with the USADA TUE Team.
