This next one is an important question, “What should I do if painkillers are needed for an injury or a planned surgery?” So, we recommend discussing your anti-doping responsibilities with your health care provider in advance of starting any treatment. So together, you can check the prescribed medications on Global DRo and assess their prohibited status. But you can also then discuss whether there are permitted alternatives. If the ultimate treatment that’s prescribed is prohibited, then you should complete a TUE Pre-Check, in case you need to apply for a TUE. And then to ask your doctor to help you provide all the information needed for the application.
USADA is committed to protecting clean athletes and promoting fair competition. As the official anti-doping agency for the United States, USADA provides education, testing, and resources that empower athletes to compete with integrity and confidence.
