Another great questions we get from athletes regarding a tool a DCO uses during the sample collection process is, “I’ve seen a DCO use a tool. What is a refractometer and what does it do?” The WADA Code requires a specific gravity measurement to be taken. The specific gravity measures the density of your urine and a DCO will use a refractometer to measure that specific gravity during every sample collection they take.
USADA is committed to protecting clean athletes and promoting fair competition. As the official anti-doping agency for the United States, USADA provides education, testing, and resources that empower athletes to compete with integrity and confidence.
