Here’s a great question, “Why might an athlete be added and how long are they required to be part of a USADA testing pool?” So, these requirements are actually set out by the WADA International Standards for Testing and Investigations. And there’s several criteria that are set. But some of them include things like highly ranked athletes, athletes who are serving a period of ineligibility, and athletes who are returning from retirement six months in advance of competition. Athletes are kept in the testing pool until they no longer meet the criteria that’s set out. If an athlete ever feels like they don’t meet the criteria and they should be removed from the pool, they can always reach out to our Athlete Service Coordinators for an evaluation.
