The International Testing Agency (ITA) and U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) are thrilled to announce a renewed and expanded agreement that further outlines how the two organizations will collaborate and coordinate to best serve athletes while maximizing resources and efficacy.

“This renewed agreement underscores the mutual trust and professionalism that define our relationship with USADA,” said ITA Director General Benjamin Cohen. “By strengthening our coordination in critical areas such as testing, training, and information sharing, we are reinforcing our shared commitment to fair play and athlete protection. As the global sport community prepares for LA28, this partnership ensures that our collective efforts remain rigorous, athlete-focused, and aligned with the highest international standards.”

USADA and the ITA have been working closely for years, first establishing a formal agreement in 2019 to facilitate collaborative anti-doping testing and investigative efforts. With these latest commitments around critical operations and processes, the agreement will continue to ensure that the organizations are in lockstep while jointly serving a large athlete population across the United States.

“The ITA are trusted partners in the fight for clean sport, and we welcome every opportunity to strengthen our collaboration, especially in the lead up to the Olympic Games coming to Los Angeles in 2028,” said USADA CEO Travis T. Tygart. “The transparency and diligence that define this partnership are essential to our shared ability to deliver a level playing field to clean athletes now and in 2028.”

The new agreement details how the organizations will share information, coordinate on sample collection, and partner to advance best practices. More specifically, the renewed agreement confirms USADA DCOs’ access to the ITA’s globally recognized IDCO Training Program, which will further guarantee that USADA personnel, who already receive extensive training, have additional opportunities to obtain advanced certifications along with their counterparts around the world. Similarly, the ITA will work closely with USADA to ensure that its operations align with standards and testing certification requirements in the United States.
