WADA INTERNATIONAL STANDARD FOR PROTECTION OF PRIVACY AND PERSONAL INFORMATION

USADA adheres to WADA’s International Standard for the Protection of Privacy and Personal Information (ISPPPI). The purpose of the ISPPPI is to ensure that all relevant parties involved in anti-doping in sport adhere to a set of core privacy protections when collecting and using athlete personal information.

Personal information collected by USADA through whereabouts filings, updates, doping control forms, and TUE and other filings is retained indefinitely, used only for legitimate anti-doping purposes and shared with other anti-doping organizations, the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee, and/or national governing body (or bodies) or as required by law or contract.

Public disclosure of personal information will generally only come about when permitted or required by the USADA Protocol for Olympic and Paralympic Movement Testing (“USADA Protocol”), the USOC National Anti-Doping Policies, the World Anti-Doping Code, the American Arbitration Association Supplementary Procedures for the Arbitration of Olympic Sport Doping Disputes, the rules of  International Federations or as required by law, law enforcement, or other governmental or agency processes. Personal information may also be viewed in connection with third party audits of USADA. USADA does not control how other organizations handle information shared with them by USADA, but will include a statement requesting that such information be handled consistently with the USADA Protocol and/or the ISPPI.

If an athlete, the athlete’s representative(s), or others associated with the athlete make(s) public comments about any process involving the athlete, including any case, USADA may respond publicly to such comments and rely upon any personal information provided to USADA in such response. Also, USADA may at any time release aggregate statistics of testing, TUE applications and permits, whereabouts filings, results management processes, and adjudication results.

Should you have a complaint or inquiry regarding the way USADA is handling or has handled your personal information, complete the form on the left within three months of when you first learn of the facts giving rise to your complaint or inquiry.  Within 30 days of receipt of your written complaint or inquiry, USADA will provide a response which may include either USADA’s response, a proposed resolution, or a statement regarding any additional time that may be necessary for USADA to address your matter.
